Haircut Day
Making our grassheads was lots of fun. We needed to give them lots of water and plenty of sunshine to make their hair grow. Our favourite part was haircut day!

Room 3 are excited to announce we have two new boys in our classrom. So without further ado here they are!
Mystery Bag
In our morning oral language we sometimes have the mystery bag. A child gets to select something out of the mystery bag (without showing the class of course) and they then have to describe the item for the others to guess. Here is Dylan dressed up in some of the mystery bag items. Can you guess what they were?

Boat Builders
The Cheetahs Reading Group read the story "The Boat" and decided to have a go at making their own. The boys created a sail and motor boat out of all sorts of recyclables. Sophie made a boat with a very small sail. We are still to test them to see if they float. Do you think they will?
Class Award
At the end of last term Room 3 were the recipients of the class trophy. Don't we look proud! This is because we are learning to be such wonderful K.C kids.

Parent/Teacher Interviews
This week there are parent teacher interviews at Vardon School.
There are NO interviews for Room 3 children at this time.
Children who have just started school will be tested on a range of skills (School Entry Assessments) once they have been at school for 6 weeks or so. Once these assessments have been completed, your child's teacher will make contact with you to arrange a time to meet with you to discuss their results and talk about how they are doing at school
Once this interview is complete, there will be a further 2 written reports and interviews over the course of their first year at school. Each child recieves 2 written reports and 2 interviews during each year of instruction.
Please ask Myra or Cath if you would like information on the reading, writing or mathematics standards they are working towards.

Starting at Vardon School
Sending your child to school (even if it is not the first one) is a very special moment for parents. The experience can be very different for each child, because every child is unique. We trust your child will be very happy at Vardon School and that you will enjoy being part of the Vardon school community.
The school information booklet will answer some of your questions. I will post some information that may be of use to you in the lead up to your child starting school as well. Please don't hesitate to contact the school or the class teacher if you need any more information.
